BALANCE
In 1923, eight of the wealthiest people in the world met.
Their combined wealth, it is estimated, exceeded the wealth of the government of the United States at that time.
These men certainly knew how to make a living and accumulate wealth.
But let's examine what happened to them 25 years later.
1. President of the largest steel company, Charles Schwab, lived on borrowed capital for five years
before he died bankrupt.
2. President of the largest gas company, Howard Hubson, went insane.
3. One of the greatest commodity traders, Arthur Cutton, died insolvent.
4. President of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Whitney, was sent to jail.
5. A member of the President's Cabinet, Albert Fall, was pardoned from jail to go home and die in peace.
6. The greatest "bear" on Wall Street, Jessie Livermore, committed suicide.
7. President of the world's greatest monopoly, Ivar Krueger, committed suicide.
8. President of the Bank of International Settlement, Leon Fraser, committed suicide.
What they forgot was how to make a life!
It is stories like this that give the readers the false impression that money is the root of all evil. That is not true.
Money provides food for the hungry, medicine for the sick, clothes for the needy.
Money is only a medium of exchange.
We need two kinds of education. One that teaches us how to make a living and one that teaches us how to live.
There are people who are so engrossed in their professional life that they neglect their family, health and
social responsibilities.
If asked why they do this they would reply that they were doing it for their family.
Our kids are sleeping when we leave home. They are sleeping when we come home.
Twenty years later, we turn back, and they are all gone. We have no family left. That is sad.

A secret to tell
I got something they don't have
and baby it's you that is lifting me high
I just wanna be close to you
'coz I understand
the strength of your hand
Oh and love that you put me through
you're more than a friend
so love me again
Baby you're full of affection
people stop and smile
Maybe they see my intention
to make life worthwhile

'cos baby it's you that is making me fly

ZEN
WILL POWER
OF A LONGSHOT.
What is the 90/10 Principle ?
10% of life is made up of what happens to you.
90% of life is decided by how you react.
What does this mean?
We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us.
We cannot stop the car from breaking down.
The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off.
A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.
How? By your reaction.
You cannot control a red light, but you can control your reaction.
Don't let people fool you;
YOU can control how you react. Let's use an example.
You are eating breakfast with your family.
Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just what happened.
What happens when the next will be determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears.
After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table.
A short verbal battle follows.
You storm upstairs and change your shirt.
Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus.
Your spouse must leave immediately for work.
You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school.
Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase.
Your day has started terribly. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home,
When you arrive home, you find a small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter.
Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning.
Why did you have a bad day?
A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?
The answer is D.
You had no control over what happened with the coffee.
How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened.
Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry.
You gently say, "It's ok honey, you just need, to be more careful next time." Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs.
After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having. Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why?
Because of how you REACTED.
You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens.
The other 90% was determined by your reaction.
Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass.
You don't have to let the negative comment affect you!
React properly and it will not ruin your day.
A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired,
Getting stressed out etc.
How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic?
Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel?
A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off! Do you curse?
Does your blood pressure skyrocket?
Do you try and bump them?
WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later to work?
Why let the cars ruin your drive?
Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.
You are told you lost your job.
Why lose sleep and get irritated?
It will work out.
Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job.
The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day.
Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant?
She has no control over what is going on.
Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger.
A hidden hand smashed your overtime .
Make a decision…Nail it.
Why get stressed out?
It will just make things worse.
Now you know the 90-10 principle.
Apply it and you will be amazed at the results.
You will lose nothing if you try it.
The 90-10 principle is incredible.
Very few know and apply this principle.
The result?
Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. There never seem to be a success in life. Bad days follow bad days. Terrible things seem to be constantly happening. There is constant stress, lack of joy, and broken relationships. Worry consumes time. Anger breaks friendships and life seems dreary and is not enjoyed to the fullest. Friends are lost. Life is a bore and often seems cruel. Does this describe you? If so, do not be discouraged. You can be different! Understand and apply the 90/10 principle. It will change your life.
Have a Great Day & and even GreaterTomorrow!

............................. JOE NOEL CAMU VS LYNDON NOEL GUCE..........
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kasikatan nuon nina Noel at Ebot.
But for me, they have almost the same God-given talents which
they have utilized fully well. Whether they were together in the
same race or not, they were always a sight to watch, making
the fans so glad and delighted especially when they see a thrilling
come-from-behind victory so smooth and performed to perfection.
Buenas Hija just came fresh from a victory a couple of weeks back.
Trish Baby will be ridden for the first time by Ebot, making the fans think
"hindi pa daw gamay ng hinete".,and so after the parade of horses,
Buenas Hija comes out the first favorite, Trish is 3rd in the betting.
At the far turn, its Trish Baby by a length and a half, Buenas Hija is
still tercero puesto, making her backers somewhat nervous.
Into the homestretch Trish maintaining one and a half, with the
lucky daughter now running in second but cannot get closer
as fast as the fans expect her to.
With 200 meters to go, everybody is sensing an upset.
Trish Baby still by a full length with Buenas Hija on the right flank.
But as they crossed the wire, track announcer is silenced due to
the sudden rush of Buenas Hija, making it too close to call.
Magnificent Photo Finish, causing the blood pressure
of the Lyamadistas to rise.
BUENAS HIJA made it by half a head...kalahating ulo.
and if you are interested to know how these stretch riders do
the trick, its better if you ask the jockeys themselves...because
if you try to ask even the veterans amongst the racing fans,
they cannot explain all the races they see...

EYES of GRACE....deboka at mahusay na mananakbo.
at malayong dehado.
Common sense dictates -
At the clubhouse turn, Zipper King in a racing display
of early speed....opening up 2 lengths, Rayo at this point
is watching in fourth position.
Pagsapit ng homestretch, hindi nagbabago ang complexion.
Punong-puno ang kabayo....Zipper King still by 2 lengths.
" Layo Zipper King, Layo Zipper King..."
Last 100 meters, lumalapit na ang Rayo.
Kaya ang sigaw na "Layo Zipper King",
ay naging " RAYO, ZIPPER KING "
pagtawid nila ng meta.
Forecast comb = Rayo / zipper king.

At pareho silang may linya (script).
bleng brip. Kaya DANDY ang aking gamit. Basta DANDY, patok."
Script ni Boboc:
Bert Marcelo: "Jockey Eduardo, ang galing mo talaga."
Eduardo : "Suerte lang Bert."
Bert Marcelo: "Basta ikaw Jockey Eduardo, PATOK ."
Eduardo : "Pero meron akong mas patok."
Bert Marcelo: " ano yon?"
Eduardo : "San Miguel beer."

Abuse of authority ang tawag dyan.
pangalagaan mo katungkulan mo bilang race official.
Your aircon room is not a room for ventilation of emotions.
ALways be fair and just in the performance of your duties.
Favorite Son scores major upset.
Common scenario -- galit na galit ang fans.
"Hinintay daw", sabi nila, but this is very hard to prove.
But 2 months after the hazzle, Butchoy and his comrades
were vindicated. Favorite Son won 3 more races with
faster clockings than Horoscope., nag-umento at
talagang mas mahusay ang mga pruweba....
and it was more than enough
to prove once and for all to the racing afficionados
that the victory over Horoscope was not a set-up.
GK 48
TRICIA VS GODSPELL
JESUS C. GUCE...........FRANCISCO G. FERNANDO
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
One of those unforgettable races ever recorded in the library
of the San Lazaro Hippodrome., such a splendid match-up.,
the stuff that memories are made of.
It was not a derby race, but it looked better than a derby race.
Two great horses ridden by 2 legendary riders who need
no introduction even to the non-cognizant racegoer.
Bong Guce and Kiko Galang left behind memories to the racing
fans' mind like a blue print to an architect's work of art.
Their talent was just so natural that everytime they met, it was
just so hard to describe in words those races wherein they were pitted against each other.
Tricia was the top choice but Godspell was a close second
favorite in the betting for the simple reason that the latter was
ridden also by a supremo.
It was a cool afternoon at the Felix Huertas racetrack that day -
a perfect day to sit there in the stadium and watch real action.
....."they're all inside now the re.....theyre off....and the lead is
......taken by Tricia by the rail".
The Gretchen Cojuangco-owned horse showing graceful strides,
.,.with top rival Godspell running in fifth as they pass
the judges stand for the first time. A couple of seconds after
rounding the clubhouse turn, the rare and unexpected occurred.
Godspell suddenly showed burst of acceleration much too early
in this part of the race as he breathed down the neck of Tricia.
Bong Jesus, whose track alertness can never be questioned,
saw this move immediately...so he had no choice but to accelerate
on his own discretion. The 2 entries were head-to-head even before hitting half-mile.
The backstretch scene was a masterpiece to behold.
And to the naked eye of the watchers in the stadium,
you could only see one horse on that backstretch view bcoz
Godspell was the smaller horse and Tricia was covering him
pretty well on that neck-and-neck portion of the race which lasted for about half a minute...yes, that is more than 30 seconds of
hold-your-breath, neck-and-neck walang kukurap action.
The nip and tuck race ended in the homestretch, where
Tricia swings away by a length.,.and in the final 200 meters
of the race, both runners appeared spent. But as they
crossed the wire, that was the LOUDEST round of applause
i have ever heard at the Manila Jockey Club stadium.
.........JE C GUCE.......................................................EC DOMINGO JR.
.......CANT MISS............VS..........WICHITA LINEMAN
GK# 50
Just a sample from their long list of track battles (1980s). which many considered as the most scintillating in recorded history .
Truly a sight to watch, their talent was top of the line.
The experts in the industry described the charisma and
excitement of their rivalry as one which knows no equal.
Eduardo Jr. rode DIN DIN,BY PASS, AWARD WINNER,
and BOLD BOK when he faced Jesus' HOW GOOD,
I LOVE YOU, KAILANMAN and HAPPY OPENING.
When Boboc won banderang tapos 1800 METERS on
DAYANG DAYANG, that same day Bong steered SMILING
SATIN to victory , same distance and wire to wire too.
Boboc skyrocketed to fame atop SPUNKY and likewise
Bong springboarded to popularity when he floated
on top of ROBOT. They had horses too connected like
a password to their names = Boboc with TIME MASTER....
Bong had FAIR and SQUARE......(thanks to wilfredo).
Eduardo Jr. had signature impact horses in FLASH DANCE
and THRILLER, and the same goes too for
Jesus who handled RED ANNIE and MAYON.
But as Tatay said, "everything must come to an end, Anak."
The kumpare status of the 2 superstars put a final chapter
on such a splendid, gallant, and powerful jockey rivalry.
The thrill and excitement had to drop 93 to 64 because
the fans knew that when kumpadre system sets in,
the gladiator spirit is gone, intensity becomes a
non-topic , and competition gets way below normal.
Rounding the far turn, we see a dark horse in front
but after a few seconds, CANT MISS grabs the lead so easily.
Then, WICHITA LINEMAN, coming from 7th position,
suddenly makes that vaunted remate only a Boboc can do.
At the last turn for home, the Lineman slices the right side of
CANT MISS, creates a half-length lead looking poised & strong
to scoring an upset as they entered the homestretch.
The usual cool Bong Jesus, undaunted by what is unfolding,
waited patiently till they reached the final 200 meters.
Then Bong asked CANT MISS for final burst of speed.
And the brave horse responded beautifully to his beloved rider.
They crossed the wire with a neck margin over WICHITA .
Two seconds later, Bong taps the left shoulder of ec domingo jr.
drawing cheers from the crowd at the stadium in a moment
that will be forever cherished by those who saw
that tapping scene.
Semi-pandemonium, a scene so full of drama.
A scene we may never see again.
Wichita Lineman did not win this race here but one thing is sure.
The connections have nothing to be ashamed of.
Boboc gave his usual best. He simply showed everyone how to move like a giant killer, win or lose .
On another note, it may not be the greatest race ever seen on
local turf but to many of their fans, it will always be the most
thrilling, breath-takingly most electrifying race ever witnessed
pitting the Maestro versus the Commissioner.
Past is past.
na mga malagim na istorya sa karera and just like the ordinary racing fan, i am also very interested and fascinated upon hearing these stories...interested becoz i want to hear the details, and
fascinated becoz some are very intriguing and loaded with debate.
......But just a quick reminder to racing fans,
......we must not forget to differentiate which of these stories
......are hearsay.... and which are confirmed to be true.
....the baseball bat incident.
....the helicopter incident.
....Winchelles incident.(e.v.andes)
....Our Flag incident (cordizar)
....Prince Cyclone story.
....Amihan-Kalipayan story.
....Saludo Real , and the riot at MJC
....Sea Kar. the suspension that shocked the fans
....Golden Ensemble story.....rcv
....Fireman - story of the century.
....Marble Princess & Windy Whelming (masiglat & ligueran)
....Last but not least, this incident in the 1990s wherein a heated argument
......ignited between a philracom commissioner and a star jockey
........which almost resulted to bloodshed.
And thus, we should never forget -
We must avoid repetition of these bad experiences in the future,.
...and make sure they are experiences to learn from.
GK51
EARLY 1970s
Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary racing
season, something happens when you least expect it.
A story comes along, a story of gargantuan proportions
destined to be listed in history as amongst one of the
most celebrated and intriguing tales of all time.
Some say that a book must be written and entitled " The
Life and Times of the Manila Jockey Club", then this story of
Fireman together of course with Del Pilar cannot be omitted.
Its just a pity that only a few of the racing fans, literally
just a few..... express concern and interest about our
historical past ; obviously not realizing that our past is
far more beautiful than what their eyes see at present.
Last Double for the day yun.
kapag outstanding favorite nuon.
Passing by the Judges stand for the first time,
SINUNOG ang San Lazaro for the very first time in its
entire history...
===========================================
...Lighter, Zippo, Posporo, Kerosene, Gasolina.....ARSON
Law of Averages
How does it apply ???
it applies to anybody....
One out of ten foulshots in basketball - youre gonna miss.
Rick Barry and Cazzie Russell were 90% free throw shooters.
One out of four free kicks in football youre gonna miss.
Even if you are a Pele or a Maradona.
You have a powerhouse swimming team in the Olympics,
but this doesnt always translate to a medal harvest.
One U.S. swim team of decades back won 3 super events but
lost the fourth event....the 4 X 4 team relay . They lost to the
Australian swimming team by .03 of a second !!!
In horseracing, this is also very true.
You just cant get away with all your attempted "anomalies".
Even if youre amongst the best, nobody is untouchable.
That is why it is called Law of Averages
One day its gonna catch you.
awakening the race officials to their senses.
During those times, racing Fans were comparing that incident
to a similar incident involving the other supremo.
At least this similar incident if we try to compare it,
is a bit different...mahusay sa banderahan at
hurado kay Sea Kar...and naturally of course the usual
frame of mind - if the horse loses, they will find a way on
how to seek revenge via suspension.....tsk.tsk.tsk.

Mga tao rin naman sila. ...at walang perpektong tao.
Who knows, in their sleep at night, nagsisisi din naman sila.
Ang iba ay hindi makatulog.....hindi makakain.
Intindihin din natin sila once in a while.
Come to think of it, they did not repeat the anomaly anymore,
( similar magnitude).

Yes my friends.
Those were the glory days of Phil.
horseracing, old times, kapanahunan

Nowadays, its different.
When you see a
sindicated race they call "dekahon",

.Dont blame the jockey too much...

Jockey Kiko Galang was enjoying his glory years during that stretch
1970s to 80s when Bong Jesus was just starting to make headlines in
the racing industry.
Based on my personal observation, and probably many will agree to this -
the fan base was divided during that era.
Majority of the fans of jockey galang were in the 35-55 bracket.
While that of jockey jesus were in the 14-30 age group.
The fans were delighted to witness the monkey ride, but some of the
more matured racing fans say that it was Loloy who introduced it.
The Guce shining star was starting to rise as the
racing fans were sensing a future track king in the making.
Belonging to a family whose source of livelihood is horseracing
the father of Bong Guce is also a rider - Jockey Eulogio.
And the father of Kiko is likewise a jockey too - Tonyo Fernando,
the rider who whips his horse so strong that the fans in the stands
can hear the whip crack HAGUPIT even from homestretch distance.
Shades of a Track Master.

Now lets just touch on the lighter offenses.
nakasakay sa 4th CHOICE in the betting ??
Regarded as one of those forgotten stories,
forgotten and funny.
